Cleaning Instructions

While the device is rated IPX6 (water-resistant against high-pressure streams), it is not "dishwasher safe."

• Hand Wash Only: Clean the stainless steel probes with hot, soapy water and a sponge after every use.
• Wipe the Body: Use a damp cloth to wipe the ABS plastic housing. Avoid abrasive cleaners or steel wool, which can scratch the display.
• The "Cable" Rule: When cleaning the external wired probe, avoid submerging the point where the wire meets the probe. Moisture getting inside the braided cable is the #1 cause of sensor failure.
• Dry Immediately: Always towel-dry the probes before folding them away or storing them to prevent any mineral buildup or spotting.

Battery & Charging Care

To keep the Lithium-Ion battery healthy for years of grilling:

• First Charge: Charge the device fully before its first use.
• Storage Charge: If you aren’t planning to grill for several months (e.g., over winter), store the device with about a 50-70% charge. Leaving it at 0% for long periods can permanently damage the battery’s capacity.
• Avoid Extreme Heat: Do not leave the main unit (the display body) on a hot grill lid or in direct sunlight for extended periods, as excessive heat can degrade the battery and the LCD.

Operational Safety

• Heat Limits: The probes are designed for high heat, but the plastic housing is not. Ensure the main unit is magnetized to a cool surface away from direct flames or the exhaust vent of your grill.
• Cable Routing: When using the external probe, ensure the wire is not pinched by a heavy grill lid and does not come into direct contact with open flames (which can exceed the cable’s 300°C rating).
• Calibration Check: If you suspect the readings are off, perform an "Ice Bath Test." Place the probe in a glass of crushed ice and a little water; it should read 0°C (32°F) within ±0.5°.

Storage

• Fold the Probe: Always fold the integrated probe back into the housing when not in use to protect the sensor tip.
• Dry Environment: Store in a kitchen drawer or a dedicated BBQ tool case. Avoid storing it outdoors in a grill cabinet where humidity and temperature fluctuations are high.
